- ■There were 706 bankruptcies (up 9.3% year-on-year), marking a year-on-year increase for the first time in three months. Liabilities totaled 123,866 million yen (down 8.2% year-on-year), marking a year-on-year decrease for the first time in four months.
- ■By industry, the number of bankruptcies increased year-on-year in five of seven industries. Of these, the manufacturing industry (81 bankruptcies, up 19.1% year-on-year) saw a year-on-year increase for the first time in eight months. In addition, bankruptcies in the service industry (173 bankruptcies) were up 21.8%, a significant increase compared with the same month of the year before. Meanwhile, the number of bankruptcies in two industries including the construction industry (125 bankruptcies) marked year-on-year decreases.
- ■In terms of primary cause, recession-induced bankruptcies numbered 560 (up 3.3% year-on-year), marking the first year-on-year increase in ten months. They accounted for 79.3% (down 4.6 points year-on-year) of all bankruptcies.
- ■In terms of scale, bankruptcies totaling less than 50 million yen numbered 428 (up 5.2% year-on-year). These made up 60.6% of all bankruptcies, and the trend in which small-scale bankruptcies account for the majority continued. By capitalization, the number of bankruptcies with capital of less than 10 million yen (including self-operated companies) came to 466, accounting for 66.0% of all bankruptcies.
- ■By region, seven of nine regions experienced year-on-year increases. Of these, bankruptcies in Tohoku (38 bankruptcies, up 81.0% year-on-year) marked the fourth consecutive month of year-on-year increase. In addition, bankruptcies in Kinki (186 bankruptcies, up 15.5% year-on-year) exceeded the same month of the previous year for the first time in seven months. On the other hand, two regions, Hokkaido (16 bankruptcies, down 33.3%) and Chugoku (24 bankruptcies, down 25.0%), marked year-on-year decreases.
- ■The largest amount of liabilities was posted by Tokyo Green Development Co., Ltd. (Tokyo, special liquidation) with liabilities of 12,872 million yen.
