- ■There were 709 bankruptcies, marking a year-on-year decrease of 5.6% and the fifth consecutive month of such decrease. Liabilities totaled 196,863 million yen, marking an 83.3% year-on-year decrease and the third consecutive month of such decrease.
- ■By industry, the number of bankruptcies decreased year-on-year in four of seven industries. Of these, the two industries of the manufacturing industry (83 bankruptcies, down 17.0% year-on-year) and the real estate industry (15, down 42.3%) saw year-on-year decreases for the third consecutive month. Meanwhile, the wholesale industry (111 bankruptcies, up 2.8% year-on-year) and the service industry (176, up 1.7%) exceeded the same month of the previous year for the second consecutive month.
- ■In terms of primary cause, recession-induced bankruptcies numbered 561 (down 11.2% year-on-year), lower than the same month of the previous year for the fifth consecutive month. They accounted for 79.1% (down 5.1 points year-on-year) of all bankruptcies.
- ■In terms of primary cause, recession-induced bankruptcies numbered 587 (down 7.8% year-on-year), lower than the same month of the previous year for the fourth consecutive month. They accounted for 80.3% (down 1.0 point year-on-year) of all bankruptcies.
- ■In terms of scale, bankruptcies totaling less than 50 million yen numbered 430 (down 5.5% year-on-year). These made up 60.6% of all bankruptcies, and the trend in which small-scale bankruptcies account for the majority continued. By capitalization, the number of bankruptcies with capital of less than 10 million yen (including self-operated companies) came to 468, accounting for 66.0% of all bankruptcies.
- ■By region, six of nine regions experienced year-on-year declines. Bankruptcies fell in Hokkaido (23 bankruptcies, down 4.2% year-on-year) for the seventh consecutive month, while they fell year-on-year in the three regions of Chubu (119, down 7.8%), Kinki (175, down 12.5%) and Shikoku (10, down 33.3%) for two months in a row. On the other hand, the two regions of Kanto (253 bankruptcies, up 0.8% year-on-year) and Kyushu (60, up 42.9%) experienced year-on-year increases.
- ■The largest amount of liabilities was posted by Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. (Tokyo, Corporate Reorganization Act) with liabilities of 90,473 million yen.
