- ■There were 731 bankruptcies (down 6.8% year-on-year), marking the fourth consecutive month of year-on-year decrease. Liabilities totaled 93,302 million yen (down 3.0% year-on-year), marking the second consecutive month of year-on-year decrease.
- ■By industry, the number of bankruptcies decreased year-on-year in four of seven industries. Of these, three industries—the construction industry (120 bankruptcies, down 18.4% year-on-year), the manufacturing industry (80 bankruptcies, down 29.8% year-on-year), and the real estate industry (24 bankruptcies, down 20.0% year-on-year)—marked double digit year-on-year decreases. Meanwhile, the number of bankruptcies in three industries including the wholesale industry (102 bankruptcies, up 5.2% year-on-year) and the service industry (183 bankruptcies, up 8.3% year-on-year) exceeded the same month of the previous year.
- ■In terms of primary cause, recession-induced bankruptcies numbered 497 (down 6.8% year-on-year), marking the third consecutive month of year-on-year decrease. They accounted for 80.4% (down 1.6 points year-on-year) of all bankruptcies.
- ■In terms of primary cause, recession-induced bankruptcies numbered 587 (down 7.8% year-on-year), lower than the same month of the previous year for the fourth consecutive month. They accounted for 80.3% (down 1.0 point year-on-year) of all bankruptcies.
- ■In terms of scale, bankruptcies totaling less than 50 million yen numbered 462 (down 1.1% year-on-year). They accounted for 63.2% of all bankruptcies, and as ever the trend in which small-scale bankruptcies account for the majority continued. By capitalization, the number of bankruptcies with capital of less than 10 million yen (including self-operated companies) came to 479, accounting for 65.5% of all bankruptcies.
- ■By region, six of nine regions experienced year-on-year declines. Of these, Hokkaido (23 bankruptcies, down 17.9% year-on-year) saw a year-on-year decrease for the sixth consecutive month, while Kanto (267 bankruptcies, down 12.2% year-on-year) did for the fourth consecutive month. However, three regions, including Chugoku (30 bankruptcies, up 66.7% year-on-year), marked year-on-year increases.
- ■The largest amount of liabilities was posted by VivaC Co., Ltd. (Tokyo, bankruptcy) with liabilities of 18,590.86 million yen.
