- ■There were 678 bankruptcies, marking a decrease of 2.3% from the previous month and a year-on-year decrease of 4.2%. Liabilities totaled 133,047 million yen, marking a large decrease of 65.5% from the previous month, and a 16.9% year-on-year decrease. Both number of bankruptcies and liabilities decreased year-on-year for the first time in three months.
- ■By industry, the number of bankruptcies decreased year-on-year in four of seven industries. Of these, industries such as the transport and telecommunication industry (14 bankruptcies, down 61.1% year-on-year) marked large year-on-year decreases. On the other hand, the construction industry (127 bankruptcies, up 8.5%) and the wholesale industry (127 bankruptcies, up 23.3%) made year-on-year increases.
- ■In terms of primary cause, recession-induced bankruptcies numbered 553, down 6.7% year-on-year.
- ■In terms of scale, bankruptcies totaling less than 50 million yen numbered 386 (down 7.0% year-on-year) and comprised 56.9% of the total. By capitalization, self-run and those with capitalization of less than 10 million yen numbered 383, marking the first year-on-year decrease in three months (423 bankruptcies).
- ■By region, seven of nine regions experienced year-on-year declines, with the three areas of Chugoku (27 bankruptcies, down 27.0%), Shikoku (11 bankruptcies, down 26.7%), and Kyushu (57 bankruptcies, down 20.0%) marking large year-on-year decreases of 20% or greater. However, Kinki (181 bankruptcies, up 11.0%) marked a large double digit year-on-year decrease.
- ■There were no bankruptcies of listed companies.
- ■The largest amount of liabilities was posted by Enterprise Jiyugaoka Inc. (Oita, Civil Rehabilitation Act) with liabilities of 15,200 million yen. Following behind were Cinq Co., Ltd. (Osaka, bankruptcy) with 11,138 million yen and Future Management Corporation (Tokyo, bankruptcy) with 7,970 million yen.
